An Ohio Art League touring parody Exhibition

“The Thirties brought the first “Fake Irrational Exhibit,” which required entrants to parody a work exhibited during the season at the Gallery of Fine Arts, now the Columbus Museum of Art. The show was received with uproarious laughter and an auction of works raised $7.93 for the League. “

The Ohio Art League, as part of its 100th Anniversary, is revisiting a former tradition, the Fake Irrational Exhibition. The show presents a unique opportunity for members to create work that parodies a famous work of art. Historically, the works presented for this exhibition were based on well known work in the public lexicon. The Ohio Art League now asks its members to once again choose a famous work of art to parody.

The show will tour to two separate venues. From July 9th to August 4th the show will be presented at the Acock Gallery at Columbus College of Art & Design. Then the show travels to Upper Arlington Concourse Gallery from August 26th - September 18th.

The show will be juried by three representatives of the Columbus College of Art & Design; Dennison Griffith (President), Julie Taggart (Dean of Fine Arts), and Tim Rietenbach (Professor, Director of Student Exhibtions).

June 26 - 6pm - Drop-off of work at Junctionview Studios (889 Williams Ave, Grandview Hts OH 43212)
June 27 - Jury of actual work
June 29 - Notifications of selected works sent
July 3 - Pickup of unselected work
July 9 - August 4 - Exhibition at Acock Gallery at Columbus College of Art & Design
July 9 - Acock Gallery reception
August 26 - September 18- Exhibition at Concourse Gallery in Upper Arlington
August 31- Concourse Gallery Reception from 5-7pm
September 21- pick up of exhibited work at Concourse Gallery 12pm- 6pm
