Artist of the month October 2019 Doreen Grasso. A recent transplant to Ohio, doreen was born and raised in Pittssburgh, Pennsylvania. After early training in studio art, she earned a BA degree in art history from the University of Pittsburgh. About Twenty-five years ago, Doreen began to re-focus on her own artwork, which is in the tradition of the minimalist and color field painters of the mid-20th century. the paintings are contemplative and meditative in nature, but with an underlying energy, vitality and rhythm. Her work has been seen frequently in juried, invitational, and group exhibitions in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and Florida. her paintings can be found in private and corporate collections throughtout the US. she currently resides in Shaker Heights, Ohio. "The markings and patterns are like notes and rhythms that direct where I go with the composition of the piece. I strive for a sense of harmony and balance withing the tension of the space." - Doreen Grasso
