    Emerging Artist Applications

    Columbus Arts Festival

    Deadline: January 16

In addition to our artist application, which is open to national and international exhibitors, the Columbus Arts Festival offers a separate application to local artists who are new to exhibiting at art fairs through GCAC’s Emerging Artists program.

The Emerging Artist program is designed specifically for artists who have extremely limited or no experience exhibiting and selling their artwork at arts festivals. Artists who apply in this category must be residents of Franklin, Union, Delaware, Licking, Fairfield, Pickaway, Fayette and Madison counties.

This program has been designed to help promote Central Ohio artists who are new to presenting their work at festivals. In addition to a lower booth fee Emerging Artists also receive assistance from Festival staff on how to best present their work to the public.

Local artists who wish to be considered for the 2014 Columbus Arts Festival’s Emerging Artist program should apply through ZAPPlication™, an online application tool, by submitting four digital images of their work and one image of their booth display. A jury panel, selected by the GCAC staff, conducts a blind jury process, where jurors review the artists’ images and technical statements without any biographical information about the artists. The top scores, allowing for a balanced show across mediums, are invited to participate in the Festival.

During the month of December, the Ohio Art League will host its annual Thumb Box Exhibition of small works at RAW Gallery. The surface may be small, but the work is large! For this intriguing show, member artists entered 2D or 3D works which measure no more than 6”x6”x6” in dimension.

With a long and storied tradition, the first exhibition of this type was held in 1916 and continued annually during the early part of the League’s history. After a hiatus, Thumb Box returned in 2006 and now continues into 2014.

Join us for the Opening Reception this Friday (Dec. 5) from 6- 9 pm.

Thumb Box runs December 5, 2014 – January 2, 2015 at RAW Gallery, 112 E Main St, Columbus, OH 43215.

The gallery is free and open to the public. View this holiday exhibition on Fridays 4-8pm, Saturdays 12-6pm, and Sundays 12-4pm.

The Residency Program at Glacier National Park offers professional artists the opportunity to pursue their artistic discipline while being surrounded by the park's inspiring landscape. The program seeks professional artists whose work is related to the park's interpretative themes and supports the mission of the National Park Service.

The program provides an artist with uninterrupted time to pursue their work and the opportunity to engage and inspire the public through outreach programs. Park housing is provided for a four-week session during the summer or fall season.

The deadline to apply is January 31, 2015.

The artist is required to present several public programs during their residency. The programs must be related to their experience as the artist-in-residence and can be demonstrations, talks, exploratory walks, or performances. Digital images of selected work produced as a part of the residency may be used in park publications, websites and presentations for education and outreach.
