Applications for the 2015 Festival are open and ready for your entries!

    Visual Artist Applications

Artists that are interested may apply via the online application tool (or visit the CAF site) and submit four digital images of their work, along with one image of their booth display. A jury panel, selected by the CAF Coordinating Committee, conducts a blind jury process, so no biographical information about the artists will be present. Thus, Ohio artists, make sure your works stand out! The artists with the top scores are invited to participate in the Columbus Arts Festival!

Download a complete Prospectus for full information in order to apply for the Visual Artist booth.

    Emerging Artist Application

For those of you just starting out in the festival display field,  the Columbus Arts Festival offers a separate application to local artists who are new to exhibiting at art fairs through GCAC’s Emerging Artists program!

The Emerging Artist program is designed specifically for artists who have extremely limited or no experience exhibiting and selling their artwork at arts festivals. Artists who apply in this category must be residents of Franklin, Union, Delaware, Licking, Fairfield, Pickaway, Fayette and Madison counties.

Emerging Artist applicants still apply as the Visual Artists do, and the jurying process is conducted as previously stated. Emerging Artists should also download the Prospectus.

The deadline for Visual Artist and Emerging Artist applications is JANUARY 16! For more options to enter the Columbus Arts Festival, visit the CAF website for the various mediums and talent genres for the 2015 Festival.

Rosewood Gallery in Kettering is hosting its twenty-fifth annual Works on Paper exhibition for artists living within a 40-mile radius of Dayton, Ohio. This is a juried exhibition and, yes, there are awards sponsored by United Art and Education!

The juror, Sean Wilkinson, completed his MFA at Rhode Island School of Design- you've heard of it? Wilkinson also taught at Harvard before being hired at the University of Dayton where he revamped the course of study in photography. Although retired from UD, Wilkinson's art prevails in many museums and collections, and his concept for great art will emanate throughout Works on Paper.

Entries for the exhibition must be original in any media (2- or 3-D) on or made of paper, completed within the last four years and not exceeding 40 inches in width.

Click here to check out the prospectus.

Because the jurying will be done from actual work, entries must be received at the Rosewood Gallery on Saturday, January 3 between 10 am and 3 pm or on Monday January 5 between 12 and 7 pm.

Works on Paper will be exhibited at Rosewood Gallery from January 26 through February 27, 2015. The Opening Reception will be held on Sunday Jan. 25, 2015 from 2- 4 pm.

For more information, visit Rosewood Gallery's website.

Ohio Art League member artist Ginny Baughman investigated several mothers of the Bible through her unique, contemporary art. The artwork in the Mothers of the Bible which exhibited at the University of Dayton on Oct. 31, included paintings, sculptures and paper constructions that were narratives of famous biblical mothers including Eve, Sara, Rachel, Rebekah, Naomi and Ruth, Elizabeth and Mary.

Ginny, herself a mother, brings her unique, modern perspective to these stories through her artistic narratives while pushing past the picture or sculptural plane into another dimension with the use of illusion and perspective, the addition of elements or the manipulation of the surface.

Congratulations, Ginny! Keep up the great work!

    Congratulations to Beryl K. Thompson!

Thompson is a member of Creative Women of Color, Columbus Cultural Arts Center, and of course the Ohio Art League. She displayed her one-of-a-kind jewelry at King Arts Complex on Thurs. Oct. 30.

Beryl Thompson, owner of The Gift Box “Where Creative Ideas Are Crafted”, has been able to develop her artistic talents, as a result of wanting unusual, creative objects in her life. Whether it is artwork to decorate her home, clothing, accessories or jewelry to wear, she uses different art mediums to create what she envisions.

Way to go, Beryl! Keep up the good work!
